Nate Reznicek Published In Captive International September 2018 Edition
Captive International recently published an article by CIC Services’ Director of Operations, Nate Reznicek, ACI titled: “The Sky Isn’t Falling and Risk Pools Aren’t Dead.” In his article, Nate examines the recent Avrahami and Reserve Mechanical Tax Court Cases. He breaks them down and demonstrates why the court ruled that both captive insurance structures failed to achieve risk distribution. He also explains why the “sky isn’t falling” for properly structured small captives and risk pools (that are also often employed by commercial insurers) are perfectly sound risk distribution vehicles provided they are structured correctly and risk transfer is priced appropriately.
