Another Win for the Good Guys

CIC Services, LLC achieved another victory in its continuing efforts to tame IRS abuse and force rogue elements within the Service to comply with the requirements of the law.

“For too long the IRS has behaved as if it was excepted from the basic rules of lawmaking that govern federal administrative agencies as if it had carte blanche to make and enforce laws by fiat without following due process”, said Sean King, General Counsel for CIC Services. “Our 9-0 victory against the IRS in the Supreme Court of the United States proved the IRS to be wrong on that point”.

CTCIA Constructing Your Captive Solution

On September 22, Chris Gallo, Managing Director at CIC Services and Chris Jackson, Partner at Marcum, led a special webinar hosted by the Connecticut Captive Insurance Association (CTCIA) on construction risk and captive insurance companies. This was part of CTCIA’s “Captive 101” webinar events, and the session included an overview of captive insurance, the pros and cons of captive formation, and a firsthand discussion about forming and managing a captive.

CIC head fears retaliation over micro captives case, NCCIA

Sean King, president of CIC Services, recently spoke at the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) annual conference about the recent battle with the IRS over micro-captive transactions. Captive International covered the presentation in a recent article quoting NCCIA founding member Alex Webb, “The discussion on the IRS vs CIC court case ruling has been long anticipated. There was obviously a great deal of enthusiasm in the audience for this topic; we certainly had the best players up on the panel today,” he said. “I think it was obvious Sean King has passion about this as he stuck with it even in the face of what he expects in the form of retaliation, which is a shame that he has to think that, but it is a real thing.”
